For over 25 years, Camp Leo has been devoted to serving children with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) in a fun, safe, educational, and medically sound environment away from home. We support children in learning to live a life of health and acceptance with diabetes, gaining confidence and developing diabetes self-management skills. Together, we are committed to fostering the transition towards self-reliance.

New in 2016!  Family Camp is an overnight camping experience filled with fun activities and diabetes education for the entire family, focused on families with a child with T1D in grades 8 and younger.  Family Camp is a great way to connect with diabetes professionals and other families going through similar situations and obtain the resources and support needed to live an empowered and healthy life with T1D.

Brochures Available!  School nurses can obtain printed brochures for your use in handing out to students and families who may be interested in Camp Leo.  Email or call 206-486-8486 and let us know how many brochures are needed and where to mail.

Use your medical skills to help us improve the lives of children with T1D.  Volunteer medical staff help oversee the ongoing medical needs of campers, including day-to-day diabetes management and any medical emergencies.  Camp is a dynamic and collaborative environment with a team of healthcare professionals.

Thank you school nurses!

American Diabetes Association and Seattle Children's Hospital are organizing their Diabetes Camp - ADA Camp Sealth- this summer.  It will be held from Monday August 3rd  to Saturday August 8th at Camp Sealth on Vashon Island. We are specifically looking for nurses from August 3rd to August 5th.  We need volunteers to help the kids check their blood sugars and make sure they get their insulin appropriately.   You would also have the opportunity to spend time with the campers during their activities (hiking, boating, swimming, arts & crafts, archery, etc.) to be available for them if their blood sugar gets too high or too low.  We will train you on the skills that are necessary for camp!  We do ask for at least a 3 day commitment, during which you will spend the night at Camp Sealth.  Luckily, Sealth provides sleeping quarters and food for our volunteers!  So, if you love summer camp and want to re-experience it or enjoy it for the first time, please email Karlie Hailstone ( for more information!!!
